Corsair STRAFE RGB

Switches:

MX Red, MX Silent, MX Brown

About:

The STRAFE RGB is Corsair's budget full sized keyboard. Unlike all of corsair's other keyboards this one features no volume wheel nor does it have media keys. Some users found the number and scroll lock lights to look strange but honestly that's a very minor nitpick. Some complained that texture on the space bar feels bad. The wrist rest on this version is worse than the k70 and k95. The Strafe features USB pass through. The keyboard does not work as a normal keyboard on some Linux Distros without third party support (CKB) ( but that is the Linux way! JUST WERKS isn't any fun!) Some users complained of led failure rate. Comes with a key cap puller. Sadly they used a plastic back plate on this keyboard. Rest assured it has a windows lock feature so you wont accidentally ruin your teams game! Cleverly the space behind the switch is white so it reflects the light better. Consider getting a k68 or k63 instead.

Pros:

  • Built in Reversible wrist rest
  • Dedicated media keys
  • Has a silent version
  • Most custmizable software for lighting.
  • USB pass through
  • Volume wheel

Cons:

  • Non standard bottom row makes aftermarket key caps a pain in the ass or impossible.
  • RGB models take up 2 USB slots to have all the functions work!
  • Some have found corsairs software to be buggy and meh

Additional Comments:

  • Consider going for a Ducky keyboard as they aim for the same market.
  • cool floating key design.
  • Corsair seemed to be including the reviews for different corsair keyboards on the same page so be aware of that, the negative QC issues of one model may have affected others, still does not seem to be really worth the risk
  • For corsair keyboards and the other gaming big names it was harder to find good video reviews from independent keyboard geeks and more from channel's like LinusTechTips so that limited the info I have
