Logitech G710

Switches:

MX Blue

About:

The G710 and the G710+ are a set of keyboards made by Logitech. The G710 comes with MX blues, the G710+ comes with MX browns there is no other difference between the 2 models. Both keyboards only have a white backlight. The secondary icons such as # or ^ are not backlit. Both have a windows lock key. The keyboards have 6 extra keys which can be used for macros. Be aware the six extra keys are non mechanical as are the media keys. The macro keys can have 3 different profiles which makes them good for MMO gamers or maybe vim users? Although it requires software to program the G-Keys and Profiles. Some have complained that the software is buggy. There are Linux drivers for the macro keys. Mac users seemed happy with the keyboards. The keyboards features 2 USB ports as well as USB pass-through. The arrow cluster & WASD keys are there own layer from everything else black-light wise, so you can make the LEDs on just the WASD keys brighter in case you really need to clutch it. Features separate media control and a volume wheel. One user said they couldn't get the volume wheel to work when using headphones? That seems strange. Has an included wrist support however, one user said the keyboard was too high and they needed to get a different wrist rest. The G710+ comes with O-rings Pre-installed in order to reduce noise. The shiny finish under and around key-caps attracts smears and smudges. The keyboard is using high profile key caps. Some users have mentioned key caps breaking after a year, this could be a case of planned obsolescence as if you somehow break one of the key-caps Logitech sells a set of key caps for $24 which is reasonable. The caps, number and scroll lock LEDs are bright. Despite the frame being heavy it still flexes a little bit under load. The back-plate is not metal which is a bummer at this price point. Interestingly the keyboard features a place to route your headphone cable. Some users reported QC issues with LEDs failing. But if you have any issues you can replace the keyboard as it comes with a 2 or 3 year warranty, just be aware that Logitech can take up to a month respond to RMA requests.

Pros:

  • Can set 3 profiles for the macro keys

  • Pre-installed O-rings on the G710+

  • Wrist rest maybe a bit too small

Additional Comments:

  • For Logitech keyboards and the other gaming big names it was harder to find good video reviews from independent keyboard geeks and more from channel's like LinusTechTips so that limited the info I have
