Matias Mini Quiet Pro

Switches:

Matias Linear

About:

The Matias Mini Quiet Pro should just be the weird %75-ish version of the Matias Quite Pro. However there are a few key differences, for example it comes with 2 cables (this version seems to have a detachable cable) and it seems to have far less happy customers than the full sized version, with less than %50 5 star reviews and %16 1 star review rate. However some of the 1 star reviewing customers just say that reds are almost as quite and that it was pricey, which seems like an unfair reason to leave 1 star reviews. Complains of key chatter and double clicks. Uses a plastic case which at this price point seems kind of meh. One user reported it would only work via USB 2.0 port and not in a USB 3.0 port. At times users have gotten the full sized keyboard shipped to them instead of the mini. Features a glossy frame that is a finger print magnet. This keyboard does not function until an OS loads and has a driver in place to handle its input. In short, you can't use it to modify BIOS settings or navigate boot prompts. So it's a really bad choice if your dual booting Linux and windows, unless you feel like switching to a different keyboard every-time you reboot. I can't confirm whether or not this is the same for all Matias keyboards, I only read a review for this specific model that mentioned the issue, If anyone has other Matias products please tell me weather or not this is the case!

Pros:

  • Detachable cable
  • Mac version exists
  • Quite and good for office use
  • Slick Looks

Cons:

  • Feet are prone to failure
  • Not good for users who are dual booting
  • Plastic case
  • QC issues

Additional Comments:

  • A MATIAS REPERSENTITVE SAID THAT NORMAL KEYBOARDS ARE ONLY SUPPOSED TO LAST A YEAR ANYWAS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R38U84GBVVR54C/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003N3HFI6)
  • It makes zero sense why the mini model has features that the full size version is missing, such as the detachable cable
