Vortex Pok3r

Switches:

MX Clear

About:

The Vortex Pok3r (got to replace letters with numbers to look more l33t h4cker) is the most popular high class %60 keyboard. While it is expensive you get your moneys worth in features and premium build quality. Not only does it support DVORAK and colemak layouts via the DIP switch, it's got 3 fully programmable layers which you don't need any software to edit, all the macros are saved on the keyboard it self, combine that with its small size its perfect for lugging back and forth into the office. It has a detachable cable. The keyboard has an aluminum case which use laser etched PBT key-caps. Available in both black and white. Beware that the black version has grey key-caps. Uses Cherry MX switches so any Cherry MX key-caps will work on it. The caps lock light is very small and hard to see, you wont be able to see it unless you look at it from a certain angle, that's a very minor nit pick. Some users have complained about keys feeling sticky, lubing up the switches fixed all those users issues (%99 of people aren't keyboard hobbyists and wont lube up their switches) The Sticky keys are probably due to the Cherry stabilizers and the pok3r being plated mounted.

Pros:

  • Aluminum Case
  • Community favourite so plenty of aftermarket and support.
  • DIP switch supports colemak and DVORAK
  • Fully Programmable
  • RGB version is a thing but rare

Cons:

  • Caps lock LED not bright
  • Like all %60 keyboards, it might take new comers a bit of time to adjust to it
  • some users reported getting keys that would get stuck after a few months

Additional Comments:

  • If like the look and craftsmanship of the pok3r but find its size uncomfortable consider getting the Vortex Race 3, a %75 keyboard by vortex.
  • The slogan “Enjoy Your Feeling” seems like something mistranslated from an advert for a certain blue pill.
